There are those musicians that possess the ability to take a song and make it their own. Giles Sonnier is one. His singing has been depicted as being soulful, and his guitar playing combines classic rock and blues styling with what could be called the Louisiana school of guitar playing, a clean, quick, percussive style of playing as exemplified by Snooks Eaglin, James Burton, Ray Mills, Lil' Buck, and Giles' uncle - the late Danny James. His songs are written about everyday life experiences, and his native south Louisiana. All of these ingredients come together to give him his own sound and style. Giles also excels at cover-tunes, ranging from the blues, rock'n'roll, R&B, ballads, funky stuff, and instrumentals which highlight his guitar work. His is also a bit of a showman who clearly enjoys what he does.
